I have a Windows XP laptop, and I have a external wireless card. It detects the connection and says that it is connected to the internet, but the internet does not work. When I try to connect directly with my modem, again the internet does not work. I know my wireless adapter works because I tested it with another computer.

I hope this works
Hmm. This is rather confusing for me, but I just went through the same thing when I got my new laptop. Have you tried going through your internet service provider to set up Wifi? You actually have to set it up, I think, and its rather confusing. When you first log in, there’s a bunch of settings and what not you can mess with. You might want to call your ISP for help.
